Roadtrip: 24 Hours in Indy

Aug 16, 2017

Okay, so it was really only 20 hours, but that just doesn't sound as catchy. Anyway, when Bruno Mars isn't coming to Nashville on tour, you roadtrip to Indy with your best friend + her mom! We had the best girls weekend and I gathered a list of must-do's for 24-ish hours in Indy.

We stopped for lunch in downtown Louisville and took some touristy pics. Louisville is such a cute town! It's definitely a good in-between point if you're traveling to Indy from Nash!

After a delicious meal in Kentucky, we got back on the road and headed for Indy. If you've never been to Indiana, there's one word that can sum up most of the drive: corn. Lots and lots of corn. And Nashville, Indiana is quite different from Nashville, Tennessee if ya didn't know. A few hours and lots of corn later, we arrived in Indianapolis!

Our first stop was our hotel in downtown Indy. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and had a wonderful experience. Our hotel was near a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and most importantly, Bankers Life Fieldhouse. We spent an hour relaxing in the hotel before we headed out to dinner before the big show.

This fountain in downtown Indy was gorgeous.
Finding a restaurant that wasn't crowded was quite the challenge, but we settled on a place called Champps with great food and tasty drinks. 10/10 recommend the sweet potato fries. So good. And they played Bruno Mars videos on the TVs so that was a bonus, IMO.

We ended up missing the opening act, Camila Cabello (previously in Fifth Harmony), but made it to the arena in plenty of time to grab some merch and get to our seats before Bruno took the stage. Don't think I'm exaggerating when I say I cried multiple times during Bruno's set. Am I extra? Yes, but Bruno is seriously just that good. His team of Hooligans have more fun on stage than anyone I've ever seen perform live. If you're having a bad day, I promise that listening to Bruno Mars will cheer you up... as long as you're not listening to Grenade or When I Was Your Man, that is. If you get a chance to see him live, don't miss out!

After the show we headed back to our hotel and fangirled about Bruno got some beauty rest. We woke up bright and early the next morning to head back to Nashville, but not before having a delicious breakfast at a local place called Cafe Patachou. I had a waffle with fresh fruit and, of course, iced coffee. It was the perfect way to end our time in Indy!

If you're looking for a fun weekend roadtrip or girls trip, I recommend Indy! I didn't really know what to expect since I had never been to Indianapolis before, but it's a super cute city with lots to do. Hopefully I will get to go back at some point and see everything else it has to offer. I'd love to hear about your Indy adventures or any weekend destination you recommend, so comment below!
