Now maybe it sounds weird to some of you that God would call someone to start a blog. "Sarah, it's a blog. It's not that serious." You are correct, my friend. Blogging is fun and creative and all those good things, but it is also a challenge to let others into your life, into your struggles. It would be easier for me to just blog about clothes or travel or some other lighthearted topic, but that isn't what God is asking of me. He is asking me to combine those things that I enjoy with my faith in Him.
That is what God wants for us in this life–to enjoy Him and the good things He gives us. It has taken me a long time to realize that God puts passions in our hearts for certain things because that is what He wants us to use to honor and glorify Him. I never realized that my passion for graphic design was given to me by God, but it was. He created each of us with a passion inside that is meant to fuel our purpose.
Every detail in our lives has been planned out by our loving Father whether we realize it or not, and for that I am so thankful. He is challenging me each day to pursue fearlessness and asking me, "Why are you afraid?" (Matthew 8:26).
"Even the winds and the waves obey him." - Matthew 8:27
That is why I am writing, creating, doing all these things He puts in my heart–to show myself that there is no reason to be afraid. In Him, I can be my silly, creative self...fearlessly! Challenging myself to blog/vlog is helping me to be my true, authentic self at all times and show the world the "real me," instead of hiding in my shyness. Pretty cool, huh?
So if there is something you feel God is calling you to do, but you are fearful of what the world might think, this is your reminder that He is faithful and good and will not leave you hanging. We may not have all the answers when we say "yes" to God's instructions, but if we obey Him, we can rest assured that it is for our good and His glory.
